New Build in Blackawton

Planning permission was granted to replace an existing barn and outbuildings with a new traditionally built bungalow.


Conditions meant we had to use certain materials to replicate some of the original features of the barn. We achieved this by using local stone and timber cladding on the external walls and insulated metal sheets for the roof finish.


The project was finished in a little over 12 months, which was a great achievement considering one of our first jobs was to install 70 odex piles across the plot due to the soft ground conditions.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to you and your team for building our new home. From the first visit with Neil, we knew that L&E was the company we wanted to work with, and you have not disappointed. Everything has been delivered on time, on budget, with nothing being too much trouble and no dramas. Even with Rosemary’s never-ending list of extras! All executed with professionalism, efficiency, and a sense of humour.

Matt has been an absolute treasure; he has consistently come up with good ideas and helped us see that maybe his ideas are the right ones! We have been happy to be guided by his experience and know-how. Steve is someone we’d like to keep! His work is exemplary, and he just gets on with it, like Matt; no requests seem to faze him. Toby & Sam have always been polite and friendly, and their outstanding stonework, amongst everything else, is being constantly admired. Not forgetting the Dan’s - “Airzee”, Barlow & Wills. All of whom have delivered excellent work.


Everyone asks us if we’d ever do this again. We reply that we don’t intend to, but if the right opportunity came along, we wouldn’t hesitate if we could work with L&E to do the build.
