Refurbishment

The Old Cider Barn is a stunning historic building in the local area brought back to life keeping original elements with the addition of modern living comforts.


This was an amazing project to be involved with and it is not very often you get the chance to work on properties like this one.


The existing building still had the original external walls in fairly good condition considering the age and being exposed to the years of weather. We had to underpin the whole back wall to allow a new ground floor build up to be installed with a new wet system underfloor heating system.


As the rear wall was against an existing bank the walls were tanked with a cavity drain system which enabled the control of water ingress should it ever occur.


A new steel frame for the roof was installed to allow a new thatch roof covering. The existing stone walls were re-pointed and where needed re-plastered with a hydraulic lime plaster.


Internally the finishes were created onsite making use of all the irregular spaces and not being able to get much furniture delivered to the second floor, bed frames were made on site to fit the rooms perfectly. The level of finish chosen by the clients and executed by our team has really done this property justice.
