Nutcombe Farm

Complete refurbishment after fire and water damage to a farmhouse in East Allington

The building was in such bad condition that we needed to remove the roof and the first floor, stripping it back to the bare walls, basically leaving just the external walls standing. We had our hands tied on this, as it was an insurance claim; the build had to go back to the way it was before the fire. With the house built from solid stone walls, we needed to use a traditional lime render with heritage breathable paints; this lets the building breathe throughout, stopping damp and condensation-prevention rather than cure.

A few kind words

Lilburn & Elliott and team restored Nutcombe Farmhouse in 2016 after a terrible fire that destroyed the whole second floor.

The house is over 250 years old, so an experienced team was vital with the right skills to ensure the house was restored back to its former glory.

The team wasamazing as conditions were hard. Lilburn & Elliott were always happy to help with any queries we had regarding restoration.

We had all the confidence that the work was done correctly and were delighted with their work. Nutcombe Farmhouse is now a beautiful home.
